The HKFYG Charity Golf Tournament
The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups’ first-ever Charity Golf Tournament was successfully held on 23 April 2021 at The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club, attracting the support and participation of over 100 golfers in 26 teams. Proceeds will be put towards the Federation’s sports programmes for disadvantaged youth in Hong Kong.
Mr. Jack CHAN, Under Secretary for Home Affairs; Dr. Rosanna Wong, Senior Adviser of The HKFYG; Mr. WAN Man-yee, President of The HKFYG; Mr. Andy HO, Executive Director of The HKFYG; Mr. Huen WONG, Club Chairman of The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club together with Mr. Paul TSE and Mrs. Jennifer WAN, Council Members of the Club were present at the Tournament, thanking the sponsors and cheering on the players.
The Tournament took place in the format of Double Peoria Handicap Stroke Play and gave out 27 awards, including Group Gross Score and Net Score; Men’s & Ladies’ Longest Drive; Nearest to Pin and Hole-in-one. The event also featured a “Beat the Pro” Charity Challenge on the 11th hole, allowing amateurs to pit their skills against golf professional Eric Lee to win even more prizes.
The Federation is deeply grateful to The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club for supporting the Tournament. Not only providing access to a world-class venue and golf course, but also waiving fees for the greens and golf carts, as well as assisting with different professional assistance throughout the Tournament. The HKFYG set up the Community Team Sports to promote the health and fitness of young people by engaging in different sporting activities and learning the values that come with team play. Funds raised from this tournament would allow disadvantaged youths to participate in various sports training to realise their potential.
