Hang Seng Bank Join Hands with HKFYG Leadership Institute to Launch New “Seek Our Ways Ideation Programme”

Hang Seng Bank and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) Leadership Institute today (18 December) jointly launched the “Seek Our Ways Ideation Programme” (the Programme) today at the Asia Society Hong Kong Centre. Participating students from secondary schools and tertiary institutions, representatives from educational institutions, partners, and Hang Seng Bank management came together to unveil this exciting initiative.

Under the theme “Future Exploration is in the Hands of Youths,” the Programme focuses on three key social themes: “Environment and Sustainable Development,” “Promoting Sports for All,” and “Elderly and Wellness.” Social leaders and mentors will guide secondary and tertiary students through a series of social innovation training sessions designed to help them understand societal issues and contribute creative solutions to drive social progress. The Programme has received an overwhelming response from the education sector, attracting nearly 1,000 applications from students.

Clarence Leung Wang Ching, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, officiated at the launch ceremony alongside Diana Cesar, Executive Director and Chief Executive of Hang Seng Bank, and Hsu Siu-man, Executive Director of the HKFYG. The event was also attended by social leaders, academics and other distinguished guests, marking the beginning of an exciting journey for over 400 shortlisted participants from about 90 secondary schools and tertiary institutions.

Diana Cesar said, “At Hang Seng Bank, we believe in helping young people grow and thrive. Through this programme, we’ve gone beyond financial support by having our colleagues mentor students and connecting them with social leaders, nonprofit advocates, and start-up founders to share experiences, insights and inspiration for the future.”\

Hsu Siu-man remarked, “Young people, with their boundless creativity and potential, are catalysts for social change in Hong Kong. Through this Programme, we aim to deepen their understanding of critical local and global issues while equipping them with the skills to design impactful ideas and solutions.” She also expressed her gratitude to Hang Seng Bank and other partnering organisations for their invaluable support in nurturing the younger generation.

Consisting of Junior Secondary, Senior Secondary and Tertiary groups, the “Seek Our Ways Ideation Programme”, is structured into three phrases to develop participants’ analytical and problem-solving skills, while enhancing their social engagement:

Phase 1 – Social Innovation Training: Participants will take part in dialogues with industry leaders, visit social enterprises and startups, and join a two-day boot camp to identify social issues and develop solution prototypes.

Phase 2 – Social Innovation Practice: Participants will put their knowledge into practice by testing their solutions with real community users and gathering feedback for refinement.

Phase 3 – Pitching Competition: Teams will collaborate with expert mentors to refine their proposals and present them in a final competition.
Winning teams in each category will be awarded HK$20,000, while the audience’s favourite team will earn HK$5,000. Winners will also have the opportunity to gain valuable career immersion at Hang Seng Bank.
